. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Jackson family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to an anonymous donor this is the 282nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Jacksons in Uruk Unam in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. They were recommended to us by their village chief who also aided us with an interpreter and a guide. Mrs Mercy Emmanuel Jackson is a widow and she has five children. She is in her mid 50s and her only source of livelihood is her little palm trading, she sells palm kernels from her hardwork in her small scale farming which wasn’t enough to help the kids, and clear up her other bills according to her.

The Jacksons live in a small mud house with no plumbing or electricity. Her kitchen is at the back of the house and she cooked with the popular metal tripod stand which was supported by firewoods to make heat. Mrs Jackson is a farmer and sells palm kernels to support her family. She has struggled to support her family since her husband died and was very excited for our visit.

The Jacksons were very happy to see us and they were grateful to receive a bag of rice. Mrs Jackson kept praying for blessings on those who donated to their family. It has been hard year and most families can not even afford to buy rice, let alone full bag of Rice so the Jacksons were extra grateful for this one.
