. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Owo family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Becky Wright this is the 286th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Elder Okon household in a village outside Uyo, Nigeria. We met them through their village chief. The Owos live in a two bedroom mud house with bad roofs supported with native woods as pillars. They live very close to the village stream which is not usable by cars and sometimes, motorcycles. The entire village have no good roads as they use local boats to cross over to other villages. He deals on Coconuts and Plantains, and the family is blessed with 7 children. We met them just right after church, so they were dressed in their best after a day of worship and they were so happy to see us.

They cook behind their house where bamboo and palm fronds were set up as kitchen with a tripod stand for pots and kettles. The use of firewood is very popular in the village as they can fetch woods from nearby bushes. You can see the goats they raise to sell to try and provide.

The Owos were so welcoming and were happy that we finally visited them. When we introduced ourselves and gave them their bag of Rice. They were overtaken by joy, in his words he said “you don’t know what you have done for me and my family”. He prayed for God to bless the donors for their kind gestures which is aimed at helping the needy and poor.
