. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Akpan family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Ashley Jones this is the 297th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We located the Akpans from directions given to us by their village chief. Mr. Iniobong Sunday Akpan got married to Mrs. Mfon Sunday Akpan 10 years ago and the union is blessed with one child. They both appear to be in their late forties. Mr. Akpan is a farmer who cultivates Cassava, processes it to make what we call “Garri” and its closest substitute “Fufu”. These commodities are arguably the most eaten foods in this part of the world. However, because of hardship imposed by the poor harvest, enough crops are not produced for consumption and sale. Most times, they had to eat the produce in order to survive.

Their house is a mud house which has no electricity or plumbing. One of their rooms was converted to kitchen to enable them cook during the rainy days. A metal tripod stand is being used for cooking with firewood. The use of firewood in the rural areas is quite understandable because of the high cost of Kerosene and Gas.

They were very happy to see us, they welcomed us with water while expressing profound joy for the gift of a bag of rice from the donors. They thanked the donors for blessing them in a time they least expected and thanks God for the blessings that came so unexpectedly .
