. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Udiong family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to an anonymous donor this is the 299th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met Mr. Monday Udiong and his wife Essiene Udiong in Uruk unam village. The 70 year old man has suffered from Arthritis for seven years now, he can barely walk or work, all his works are assisted by his children. This condition has posed a lot of problems to the family, especially in the aspects of finance. He was a known Farmer who cultivates Rice and Cassava. His wife who serves as a help meat, processes and sells Fufu, an end product of processed/fermented Cassava. This is what keeps the family moving but with a family size of nine, it is really difficult to make ends meet.

Front view of their home

They have lived in this mud house for so many years, a segment of the house is reserved as Kitchen, but they prefer to cook outside because of the bad condition of the roof. Generally in the village, the use of firewood is quite prevalent, so they fetch from their farmland for cooking.

Their kitchen

They were very happy to see us in their house, when we presented a bag of rice to them, they were both surprised and simply speechless that s stranger would give them such a gift. They rained blessings upon the hands that have given freely to them, asking God to bless them immensely.
