Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Ntowo family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to an anonymous this is the 300th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
Meet Mrs Itoho Ntowo Akpan, a young mother of two, who lives in her husband’s house with her kid brother, Michael. Her husband, Mr. Saturday Ntowo Akpan was not around at the time we visited. He is a commercial motorcyclist who ply the farm routes on farm days and normal route on ordinary days. His wife is currently unemployed and there is no capital to start a business outfit for her. Because of this condition, the financial weight of the household lies solely on Mr. Ntowo. His job is is dangerous with little return, but it is the only option this family has currently.
They cook beside their building with a metal tripod stand supported by dry woods to make fire. They fetch firewood from nearby bushes. Finding firewood is one of the few things that come easily to this struggling family if only finding a daily meal was as simple as firewood.
Her kid brother, Michael helping feed the children to help make sure no food is wasted.
When we explained who we were and what we brought for her family, she was full of thanks, immediately, she burst into songs, glorifying God for remembering her family through these donations and blessing their family. She prayed out loud for the donors asking God to empower and bless them, over and over again.
