Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign
. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Monday family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Tia Cherry this is the 304th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

Meet Mr. Nsikak Monday, a 32 year old Motor Mechanic, he learnt motor repairs and maintenance while he was just 14 through the renowned apprenticeship system. Every since then, this has been his main source of livelihood. His wife Joy is unemployed. Mr. Nsikak Monday and family live in a one bedroom mud house with no plumbing or electricity. To get water they either walk a long distance to the local stream or put rubber containers to channel rain water from the roof. Their three kids sleep on the mat while the couple sleep on an old spring students’ bed covered with planks and old mat.

The Mondays do not have room in their house to use as a kitchen so they cook in the open at the back of their house. They use firewood and an iron tripod which the pot rests on. When it rains then they cook in one of their neighbors kitchens.

Mr Nsikak Monday thanked us for coming to his household. When we presented him with a bag of rice, he was full of joy. Him and his family expressed their profound joy by singing praises to God for remembering them in such a time like this.
