. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Uloni family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Jonelle Penner this is the 305th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We were pleased to meet the Ulonis whose family is blessed with 4 kids. Mrs Uloni and their youngest child were at the market when we came to visit. But his three children and his Mother were home. He cares for his mother, as she is no longer able to survive alone. Their means of livelihood is solely dependent on farming and processing of farm products which is a seasonal business and it doesn’t pay much. Specifically, he deals on palm kernels because it is something that has a multi-purpose nature. He extracts palm kernel oil, in small quantities, used in the formation and making of soaps. Despite his hardwork and that of the entire village, they are yet to experience the financial freedom they desire. The family and the village still hope to see development as they still contribute to solve their immediate wants and needs collectively.

Mr. and Mrs. Uloni Ime cook inside their one room apartment. Their cooking apparatus is a tripod cooking stand that allows small size firewoods, this is very peculiar to almost all the households in the village

The Ulonis were happy to meet us, Mr Uloni entertained us with Kola nuts which is a sign of acceptance in the entire southern part of Nigeria, when we presented a bag of rice to him, his joy was boundless. Mr. Uloni prayed out loud with joy for longevity of our cherished sponsor. Still in unbelief that this gift was given to him, and the blessing it will be to his family.
