Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign
. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Akai family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Mary Nichols this is the 306th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

Mr Akai and his wife Ofonmbok are natives of Uruk Anam Local Government Area, both are estimated to be in their late 50s. Mr Akai, is the bread winner of the family, according to him, he has been a commercial motorcyclist for past 15 years. He provides for his family of seven by transporting people and goods to their destination. But the business was hit hard with the increase in the price of petrol and cost of parts, this has adversely affected his take home profit. His wife is yet to find a job, this condition has made him the sole financier of the family. They live in a mud house, constructed with strong tiny woods as pillars, without any modern ceiling attached.

Their kitchen

They were loaded up with delight when we gave them a bag of rice from the gifts, as indicated, they haven’t got such a blessing from complete outsiders in all their many years. They said thanks to the givers for remembering them and requested that God favor them in return.
