Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Friday family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Heather Sherwood this is the 307th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
Meet the Fridays, natives of Uruk Anam Local Government Area, both couple have been into small scale farming for over a decade now. Mrs Aniefon sells all the farm produce harvested from their farmland by her husband, who wasn’t around at the time we visited. She markets Cassava and processes same for other people for an agreed sum. Their union is blessed with five Children and a grand child. According to them, the proceeds from the sales are spent on pressing family needs such as feeding, clothing and Education of the kids.
They live in a mud house which doesn’t have any modern facilities whatsoever. The only sight of furniture, are the two benches in front of the house where visitors sit as soon as they arrive. They cook with the well known mount metal stand that uses firewoods. All of the families get firewood from nearby bushes or their farmlands.
They were very excited to meet us and very surprised when we gave them a bag of rice from the donations. They expressed profound gratitude to the providers for remembering that them and mentioned that God replenishes wherever they have brought out this much to bless them with.
