Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign
. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Okon family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Kevin Yoder this is the 314th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

Meet Mrs. Iniefiole Okon, a 65 year old widow, a native of Uruk Anam Local Government Area. She has been the sole financier of the family since the demise of her husband. She doesn’t really have a large family size, so she lives in this two bedroom mud house with two of her children. Running the family with the little profit she makes from trading is posing some challenges to her. She trades on Fufu, an extract from processed/fermented Cassava. The whole process is time consuming and doesn’t really translate into profit maximization

Their home is poorly furnished, there is no form of electricity or portable water available. The entire village is yet to enjoy the dividends of democracy from the government. However, seeing us come along with gifts brought hope to their situation. Walking around their house, we discovered that they cook with a semi-round mud structure, with a space for firewood.

They were very happy to see us, they offered us water to drink and engaged us in some wonderful discussions. They prayed for God’s blessings upon the hands that have offered to take away sufferings from their lives through this donations.
