Bag of Rice Project #32 -A visit to the Sylvanus family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Sylvanus family, their bag of rice was donated in honor of Kyle Mark is the 32nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this wonderful family through an acquaintance that recommended them to us. The Sylvanus family is a family of four kids, all below 10 years. They live in a public apartment where they have two rooms and share the rest of the facilities with other tenants. Mr Sylvanus is unemployed and his wife does not have a job as she mainly takes care of the kids. He however has a strong work ethic and engages in any kind of work he sees.

When we met the Sylvanus family and introduced ourselves and our purpose for visiting, they were so delighted and Mr Sylvanus kept expressing his thanks and gratitude. I encouraged him to take advantage of various free workshops and get a skill so he can help out his young family. He was very enthusiastic and promised to do so. This gift meant so much for this family and it will be of a very great benefit for them and they will appreciate this gesture for years to come.
