. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the George family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Cheryl Yoast this is the 332nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the George family in Oruk Anam, a village just outside Uyo, Nigeria. Mr George saw us passing his house and came to us himself. He lives with his wife and four of his kids in a 2 bedroom mudhouse. They don’t have light or running water and have to get water from a local stream when they need it.

The Georges cook in a semi covered structure as their kitchen. They use firewood and the same place doubles as a pen for their goats. Mrs George was not at home when we arrived because she was sells vegetables that the family farms at the local market. Mr George is a farmer and deals with cassava and corn. This is hard work with little profit. He was very delighted to meet us and insisted we visited his house for a cup of water.

We did not plan to meet this family but we were glad we did. Mr George seized an opportunity as he saw us to invite us to his home and offer us some water. His energy was very infectious and we decided to gift him a bag of Rice. His joy knew no bounds as he continually thanked us and those who donated to their family in these hard times. Shocked at his lucky to receive such a gift thanking God for his blessings. He told us that they will take care of the bag of Rice and make it last as long as they can and he wished us a safe journey as we left his house.
