. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Titus family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Sandi Obanion Deer creek Labradoodles this is the 334th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this family in Oruk Anam, a village just outside Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. We needed a guide to get to where the Titus family were staying. They live in a one bedroom mud house with a palm fond roof and no utilities. To get water they have to trek to a local stream or collect rain water. We did not meet Mr and Mrs Titus at home but we met their 4 kids at home.

They cook with firewood in one of the rooms in their house. This is the only option of fuel available to them as the nearest gas station is miles away. Mr Titus and his wife are traders and were at the local market when we visited them. They both manage a vegetable and fruits stand and it barely takes care of the family often leaving them without enough to eat and lacking basic needs.

We met the kids outside playing soccer and interrupted them to explain who we were and why we visited them. In their parents absence, the kids welcomed us and gave us all the details we wanted and thanked us for the donation given to their family. Later their parent also conveyed their thanks through the village chief for the surprising gift and prayed that God will repay those who donated the bag of rice to their family. Can you imagine their joy retuning home to find two strangers brought them a bag of rice while they were gone, a bag that is worth more than most families in this area will make in 4- 6 months to a years time.
