Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Eyo family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Shirley Taylor this is the 340th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this family in a village outside Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. They were recommended to us by their village chief who also provided a translator for us.. The live in an old bungalow that was cemented and patched. This village has not had light for years and residents have to get their water from a local stream. the Eyos have 4 kids who were not around when we visited as they had gone to fetch water from the nearby stream. We met with Mr Patrick Eyo who welcomed us and introduced us to his wife and son who gave us lovely smiles when we met them.
The Eyo family cook with firewood at the back of their home. Because their old kitchen collapsed due to heavy rains they cook on the steps of their backyard using some cement blocks and firewood. The Eyos are farmers like most people in this village. They grow cassava and sell it at the local market so that they can raise money for their children’s school fees and food.
We are very happy to meet them Eyo’s who were overjoyed in meeting us too. They were beyond happy with their bag of Rice and profusely thanked the donors for this wonderful generosity shown to them and prayed that the God replenish their pockets immensely. It was a wonderful experience and we are glad for uplifting their spirits.
