Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign
. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Okon family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Tanya Lopez and an anonymous donor this is the 344th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this wonderful family in a Uruan village. They were recommended to us by their village chief. The Okon family live in a semi completed building with their 5 children. This village has not had light for years and depend on a few charging stations to power their devices if they have any. The Okon family are farmers, they sell farm produce to earn a living. We were very happy to meet the Okon family and all their children.

The Okon family cook with firewood in a very spacy room surrounded with waste from coconut shafts and ashes, they were used to heat up the fire fore cooking. The building looked uncompleted but well ventilated. Mrs Okon also has a very small grocery store that she runs selling these items and produce is how she feeds her family and it helps keep the family running.

Meeting this family was a wonderful experience. The mother rejoiced concerning the bag of rice and danced around the veranda with some of her kids. And they all decided to sit down for their picture. I also on her behalf want to thank those who donated the bag of rice, this has gone a long way in helping the family and their needs.
