. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Ntem family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Gena Gurney this is the 350th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We heard about Mrs Ntems story and we had to meet her. A friend recommended her to us. A widow herself with one daughter who had two kids only to die with her husband in a car accident so the kids had to come stay with their grandmother. They live in a rented one bedroom apartment just outside Uyo and by the grace of God have been surviving on what little they have. They don’t have electricity or plumbing and you can see the buckets lined under the roof to collect water which they use. I was especially eager to meet her and hug her.

They don’t have a kitchen and like most people they constructed a shed made with zinc just opposite their home. They cook with firewood as it is the cheapest and most affordable means of fuel that they could find. Mrs Ntem sells fruits and vegetables at the local market and takes care of herself and her two grandkids with the meagre proceeds from it.

Mrs Ntem is a strong woman. We picked her up from church and took her home so we could see where she lived and she was so happy to meet us and prayed and hugged us. I had been looking forward to meet her and I’m happy we could do something to make her smile and be happy. She extended her prayers to those who donated the bag of Rice to her family and hailed it as a miracle and a direct answer to the prayers she prayed that very morning. I know that God listened to her and I pray he keeps making a way for her.
