. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Ime family, their bag of rice was donated in behalf of friends of the Blaisdell and Babbel Families, this is the 354th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this family in a village called Ibesikpo in Akwa Ibom State. They live in a rented one bedroom house shared with other tenants There is no formal furniture inside instead just a roof to keep them dry. The house was so full because they have so many little children in the compound and all of them wanted to be in the pictures that we were taking of the environment oustide the house. The Imes have 6 kids.

The Imes don’t have a kitchen so they cook just behind their house using a metal tripod and firewood because it is the cheapest fuel they can afford. Mr Ime is a trader and sells used clothes at a local market business, while his wife also sells fruits and vegetables at the same market. Both parents working jobs with very little payout, they are lucky to earn enough to feed their family of eight. Hunger is a common visitor to the poor. Mr Ime sells used clothing on the street but his own children have lack of clothing. You can tell by their distended tummies lack of nutrition and regular meals is also a struggle to this young family.

Mr Ime was surprised to meet us as he was not expecting us to visit them. We decided to drop in on them when we saw so many kids playing outside the compound. Mr Ime was so happy to receive us and they were grateful for the donation. The children were very happy and they placed all their hands on the bags and were happy to take pictures, even at their young age they understand what this rice will do for their family. I hope they make wonderful meals out of this bag of rice.
