. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Okon family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Amy Keller this is the 356th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this wonderful family at a village called Ibesikpo Asutan located on the outskirts of Uyo. We came across their household while they were returning from Sunday service. We met the father of the house Mr. Samuel Akpan and his five beautiful children. Mr. Samuel was a widower. They live in an one bedroom uncompleted compound with other tenants. His wife died a long time ago living him with his 5 children. He tries as much as possible to feed and take good care of them.

Here is their kitchen space where they prepare all their meals, they cook under a little shed with firewood which is the cheapest form of fuel that they can afford. The neighbor will usually assist them in cooking whenever she is free because Mr Okon is not at home during the day. The rest of the kids aided in minor household chores. Mr. Samuel is a carpenter and this is his only source of living. The elder child assists him in his workshop when he comes back from school.

You can see from the smiles on their faces that they were very excited and pleased to receive this bag of rice, and they thanked us and the people that donated it too.
