Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Billy family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Sharon DeMuynck this is the 360th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this family in a village called Ibesikpo and they were recommended to us by their village chief. They live in a rented one bedroom house that is beautifully surrounded by large flower plants. Initially we thought there was no one around but We were favorable enough to meet Mr. Asuquo Billy Akpan who later informed us that his wife Mrs Ikwo Billy was not around. Mr. Asuquo has 6 children but they weren’t around also.
He took us to his kitchen, a very small room with many cooking equipment and a small kerosene stove cooker, this is where Mrs ikwo usually prepare meals aided by her kids. Mr Asuquo is a security guard at a local school in the community. And served as our local guide to lead us to most of the families that we visited that day. Leading us to those in the village he knew were most in need. We could see he had a great need as well but he wanted to make sure the focus was on blessing others.
He was excited and appreciated us for the bag of rice, accepted what we offered and told us the rest of the family will be highly grateful too. Even as he led us through the backroads that led to the families that we visited he did not know that we wanted to see his family too, he was pleasantly surprised and so humble and prayed for those who donated this bag of rice to his family and prayed that the Lord will bless them immensely.
