Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Ezendu family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to an anonymous donor this is the 372nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this wonderful family in Aba, Nigeria. They were recommended to us by their ward bishop who also accompanied us to their house. Mrs Ezendu is a widow and she has 4 kids. They live in a rented one bedroom apartment and for water they have to fetch from a local borehole.
Mrs Ezendus cook with a kerosene stove in a dimly lit kitchen. Most of Mrs Ezendu’s children are living with their relatives as she can not afford to take care of all of them at once following the death of the bread winner of the family. A circumstance that is heartbreaking for a mother, to not be able to care for her own children. Mrs Ezendu is a trader and she sells firewood at a local market near her home.
I’ve known this family since I was a kid and Mrs Ezendu was both surprised and delighted to see us. She has been facing difficut times recently and I was glad that our visit brought smiles to their faces. Great joy filled her heart knowing she can provide her children with a daily meal. Mrs Ezendu was so grateful to those who donated to their family and have made this special season very memorable for them. She prayed that God will reward the donors and bring them blessings upon blessings.
