Bag of Rice Project #373 -A visit to the Ngozi family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign
. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Ngozi family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to an anonymous donor this is the 373rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this wonderful family in Aba, Nigeria. They were recommended to us by their church leader. Mrs Ngozi is a widow and she has 2 kids, one of whom needs special care. He had jaundice as a baby that was not treated and now he has brain damage and mental delays he is not able to care for himself. They live in a one room apartment that looks unfinished. Mrs Ngozi hasn’t had it easy taking care of her family ever since the loss of her husband but somehow God has been wonderful to her.

The Ngozis cook in a small space just in front of their porch and use kerosene to cook as it is the most that they can afford. Mrs Ngozi is a trader and sells fruits and vegetables at the local market which helps her with some little money to take care of her kids.

The Ngozis were not expecting us and were very surprised to see us. They were even more delighted to see what we brought for them. She wore a huge smile on her face and thanked us profusely. She thanked those who donated the bag of Rice to their family and prayed that they will be richly rewarded for looking out for their family.
