Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Eton family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to this is the 390th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met the Eton family in Ikom Ima, Akwa Ibom state. They were recommended to us by their village chief. We could not meet with Mr Eton as he was disabled and confined to the bed. The Etons have 6 kids and they live 2 bedroom house that isn’t quite finished.
The Etons cook in the open at the back of their house and they use the popular firewood and metal tripod combo. Mrs Eton crushes palm fruits and sells the kernal for a living. All her kids pitch in and this is how they make a living. It isn’t enough but they manage and find a way to survive somehow. This bag of rice is something they could never afford, worth more than they would make in many months time.

The Etons despite everything they have been through are resilient and strong. They were very welcoming and surprised at what we brought for them. Mrs Eton expressed their sincere gratitude to us repeatedly and in her language kept talking about how we had made it possible for them to enjoy their holidays. We might not of been able to understand her, but her smile needed no translation. She was also grateful to those who donated to their family and prayed that God will bless and reward them.
