. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Udoh family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Lindsey Watkins Family this is the 397th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this special family in Uyo, Akwa ibom State. They lived in a small one room apartment. It is roofed with zinc and surrounded with rocks. We were received by Mary Ita Udoh and her friend that she is temporarily staying with. Mary stays with her friend she had no house of her own as she was evicted from her home because she could no longer meet up with rent. Mary and her friend live there are tenants. There is no form of power supply in the area.

These two strong women are traders They buy and sell farm produce in the local market. That is how they struggle to provide for themselves and pay their bills. They share one latrine end bathroom with the other members of the compound . There is usually no provision of water supply in the house. And these is a very uncomfortable situation for two elderly women living together. Their cooking space is located outside the room by the corner of the front yard most kitchen utensils are kept outside because there is no room to accommodate kitchen utensils They use fire wood to cook as they cannot afford the gas cooker.

Mrs Mary and her friend were very pleased to receive this bag of rice. Their church leader recommended them to us and Mrs Mary was blown away by the bag of rice. This donation will go a long way in assisting these two elderly women in taking care of themselves. They were very happy and thanked those who donated the bag of rice to them.
