Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign
. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Ndara family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Joseph Callahan this is the 401st bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this special family in Uyo in Akwa ibom State. They live in a uncomplete building . The roof roughly patched with rusty old zinc. They were recommended to us by their village chief. The Ndaras used to live in the city but when Mr Ndara lost his job they had to relocate back to their home town.

We were happily welcomed by Mr Edet Ndara Tom and Mary his wife, grandmother and their six beautiful children. As the head and bread winner of the family, he works as a civil servant. His wife is currently unemployed and so he is handed the responsibilities of taking care of the needs of everybody in the household. The cooking space is located outside the building and is designed with wooden planks. They use the firewood to cook and prepare meals as they cannot afford the gas cooking equipment.

Despite the tough challenges the Tom Family is still able to patch up the hustle to make their needs available. They were very surprised to receive the donation. They were very delighted and this made us feel happy and satisfied too. Though it may not be enough long term, but I’m glad we put a smile on their faces.
