. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Uyobong family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Lisa Marlow this is the 402nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this amazing family in Uyo, Akwa ibom State. They live in an uncomplete bungalow building, it is just a one bedroom. We were received by Mrs Ruth Uyobong Tom and her four children. Mrs Tom is a widow . Her husband died many years ago leaving her behind to take care of her children.

Despite the demise of her husband. She works very hard to take good care of of her children and put some of them into schools. Mrs Ruth is a firewood seller buys firewood and sells in the local market and is assisted by her daughters in the trade. They have no water and sometimes have to trek for miles to get water in this neighborhood.

I am shocked by the strength of Mrs Ruth to the abele to pull through and work hard to provide for her few of her basic needs. She has severe arthritis, which affects her ability to walk or stand for a few minutes. Though they find it hard to feed but are still survivors. I hope this bag of rice goes a long way to sustain the family’s needs. They were very happy over the donation and appreciated those that donated it to them.
