. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the John family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Julia Watters this is the 403rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We came across this special family in a village known as Nung udoe outside Uyo, Akwa ibom State. They live in a one room uncompleted building as tenants. Their house is covered with a strong iron door . Their building is surrounded with with large trees as shade to accommodate visitors. We were driving past and saw Mrs John and her son playing in the porch of their house. She did not believe us at first and had to call her husband on the phone to speak to us first.

Mrs ofonime has a total of 4 beautiful children. They are all boys.  Her husband’s name is Mr John Effiong and he is in charge of the basic needs of the family. He is a freelance worker, he does jobs when they are available mostly in construction sites. Mrs Ofonime is currently unemployed and has no source of income.. Due to their financial condition they can only afford to train their first child in school. Their cooking space is located at the back of the house surrounded with palm trees and bushes. They use firewood to cook and prepare most of their meals. She is usually assisted in the kitchen by her children . They can’t afford most kitchen utensils and equipment.

Mrs John was so dumbfounded when we told her we wanted to give her a bag of Rice and had to take permission from her equally surprised husband who was not home when we visited them. They were very happy and excited to receive this bag of rice. They marveled at the whole event taking place. They promised to use the bag of rice to sustain and improve in providing food for the family.
