Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Justin family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Cheryl Yoast this is the 408th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met the Justin family in Nung Udoe village located on the outskirts of Uyo, Nigeria. They were referred to us by Mrs Edet, a member of the village. The Justin family are all related and stay in a compound consisting of two houses. They all insisted that they will share and were very happy to meet us. They stay in a not quite completed house with no water or electricity and fetch from a local stream since the nearest town is quite far from them.
The Justin family do not have a kitchen but instead cook on the ground at the back of their home. They use the popular firewood and metal tripod combo which is the cheapest and most accessible form of fuel in the area. The Justins also have a small cassava mill at the back of their home. They rent it out to farmers to mill their cassava and turn it to fufu but it is out of use since it isn’t harvest season yet.
We were happy to meet this family. They insisted that we wait for everyone to come back so that they could thank us personally. The gift of the bag of Rice was so unexpected but very appreciated and they made sure we heard about it countless number of times. They thanked the donors for this very welcomed donation and prayed for God to reward them tenfold.
