. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Akpan family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to TERRY SIMMONS this is the 409th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Akpan family in a village called Nung Udoe located on the outskirts of Uyo, Nigeria. They were recommended to us by one of their neighbors. The Akpans have 6 kids and they live in a not quite complete cement house. This village has not seen electricity in years and get water by fetching from a local stream about 30 mins away.

The Akpans cook in a makeshift zinc structure that they constructed just at the back of their home. They cook using firewood and were in the process of making dinner when we arrived. Mr Akpan is a carpenter and has his small workshop in front of their home. Mrs Akpan sells vegetables at the local market and both of this jobs combine to take care of their kids.

The Akpans were surprised but delighted to see us. They were not expecting us and were pleasantly surprised to see us gift them with a bag of Rice. This bag of Rice will be enough to feed them for months and because of the economy has now gone up in price to where it is above the minimum wage in Nigeria and most families can not afford them. So the Akpans were very grateful to those who donated this bag to them and prayed for God to reward and bless them immensely.
