Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Joseph family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Lindsey Watkins Family this is the 422nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
Meet Mr. Francis Joseph and Wife, natives Ikom ima village in Abak Local Government Area of Akwaibom State. The union is blessed with three kids. He claims hardship had taken a bad turn on his looks, although we predict he should well be seated into his late forties, a claim he refuted on a lighter note. Mr Joseph is the bread winner of the family, he is a local labourer. He scouts for ongoing building projects and offers to work in any capacity. He has been on this job ever since he was a teenager. It was from the little money he makes that he was able to open a grocery shop for the family using his wife as Manager.
With a wooden patched frontage, she deals on common household items and food stuffs. But the recent economic condition, the business was quickly feasted on by the family who also depended on the proceeds for survival. It was not long, the business collapsed. This bag of rice will bless this family not just with a daily meal, but the hope for a brighter day ahead.
They were so very grateful to the donors but were surprised that people could donate to total strangers at no cost whatsoever. They offered thanksgiving prayers right away, to God for remembering them in this period of economic downturn.
