. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Sunday family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Elaine Price and an Anonymous donor, this is the 423rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We were welcomed into the Sunday’s family by his wife. Both have been married for ten years now and the union has produced 4 kids. Mr Sunday was unavoidably absent as at the time we visited due to the nature of his job. According to Mrs Sunday, her husband is a Keke driver. Keke is a coinage used to describe a tricycle which is mainly used to convey people or goods for commercial purposes. It is now a popular business that generates profit but her state of unemployment heightens the financial burden of the husband, who is the sole provider.

They live in a fairly comfortable one bedroom apartment with a kitchen attachment. She allowed us access into her kitchen which revealed neatly packed utensils and a modern cylinder-gas cooker. Beside the house was a little spot where she grows some leaves which she uses to make food.

She was very glad to receive a bag of 50kg rice which she said will go a long way in feeding their household. She also thinks the husband will be happy as well. She rendered good will prayers for the donors who have given freely even without knowing the beneficiaries.
