. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Elijah family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Joseph Callahan this is the 425th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We were happy to meet the Elijah’s, although Mr. Elijah was not at home when we visited, his wife Veronica made sure we were comfortable. She offered us water as Kola before we started a brief interaction with her household. She has lived here with her husband who is a security guard in one local secondary school, about two miles away from home. The family do not have much income and with a family size of 7, extra efforts are required in order help ends meet. We observed the condition in which they live, an old inherited mud house with no plumbing and modern conveniences.

The Elijahs could not afford to build their own bathroom so they constructed a makeshift bathroom from zincs just outside their home. This was the most they could afford and they use it while planning for better options.

It was a feel-good news when we opened up to them why we have come, the moment we presented the bag of rice, they were full of smiles, as they prayed earnestly for the donors who have given them this wonderful gift in such a time like this.
