Bag of Rice Project #43 -A visit to the Victor family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Victor family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Melissa Coy and Ashley Ecker Family this is the 43rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

This wonderful family was recommended to us by their church leader. The Victor family is a big family made up of 7 kids. Mr Victor is skilled as a mason but has been unemployed for months. They were evicted from where they were staying before and members of their church had to contribute money for them to move to a better place. Mr Victor goes out everyday to engage in any work he sees in his community in a bid to sustain his big family.

Mrs Victor was not around when we came to visit them as she had gone to market to buy foodstuffs to cook for her hungry kids. She is a trader and uses the income gotten from her trading to assist in taking care of her family. As at the time we got to the Victors house they had not even had breakfast and it was past 2 in the afternoon. This broke my heart and we gave Mr Victor some money to see what he can buy for them before his wife comes back.

The Victor Family were very happy with the bag of Rice that brought as it will provide the very needed food for the family. It would really help the family out and serve them well. They were very grateful to the family who provided this food for them and I suggested that they keep praying for the family so that they will not lack and keep having enough to provide. I pray that this family keeps growing and find ways to survive and for more good things to keep happening for them.
