Bag of Rice Project #434 -A visit to the Victor family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Victor family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Donna Kapotas, Amy Cannon and Janelle Prince this is the 434th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We happen to meet this lovely family at a village in Itu local government Akwa ibom state. They are currently living as tenants in a small one bedroom building. We were welcomed with lovely smiles and warm faces by Mrs Patience Nsima who is a mother of three beautiful children. She is married to Mr Victor Nsima Onyung who works as a security guard at a local school in the village. We introduced ourselves to the family and told them the purpose of our visit. They were extra needful of a little assistance. Mr Victor is the only person currently employed and earns very little amount just to feed and To take care of the family’s basic needs. This family have not found things easy due to the bad weather conditions, poor electricity supply and bad water supply. Most of the water they use are not clean nor purified.

Mrs Patience is mostly at homes as she is currently unemployed, so she is usually in the house doing kitchen work. She prepares most of her meals with the firewood at the backyard of her home which is the cheapest means of cooking one can find and afford in these rural areas.

The family was filled with so much joy and happiness on their faces when we gave them the donation. They were very grateful and thanked those that donated to their family and prayed that the Lord will reward them immensely. It’s not been easy trying to cater for a family of six, with little of no income. I know that this donation will be able to care for some basic needs of the household.
