Bag of Rice Project #450 -A visit to the Udoh family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Udoh family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to TERRY SIMMONS this is the 450th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Udoh Family in one of the biggest local governments in Akwa Ibom state. The Udoh Family stays in Afaha village which is domiciled in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government area. The Udoh Family have 4 kids and they live in a three bedroom apartment. The house does not have a window and it’s not plastered. The Udohs were shocked when we told them what we brought for them, because the price of one bag of rice is equivalent to the monthly wage of the country. The husband was not around when we visited, we were told he went to the village. The wife Agnes Udoh received us.

The Udohs reserved a room which served as their kitchen. The cooking is done there, they have a small gas stove for cooking. Mrs. Agnes Udoh sells palm oil in the market to support the family because the husband is retired and doesn’t work again.

The family were happy to see us and they were happy when we gave them the bag of rice. All they could do was thank the donor. They never believed someone could give a bag of rice without ulterior motives. They were happy and continued praying for the donor considering how the Nigerian economy is. They thanked the donor and prayed God will bless them and replenish their pockets.
