Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Jim family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to The Thayn Family this is the 455th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this wonderful family still at Ibesikpo village. They were recommended to us by their village chiefs. There were so welcoming to us. The Jims live in a 3 bedroom house with 3 other tenants. Mrs Jim is a widow and lost her husband last year after a brief illness. She has 3 children all within age 8 to 4 and they were so wonderful to meet and talk to.
The Jim family could not afford a house with a kitchen, so they cook at the back of their house under a shade. They use the popular metal tripod and firewood, which is the cheapest means of method of cooking among these parts. Since Mrs Jim lost her husband, she adopted a small grocery store table at the local market where she tries to sell fruits and vegetables and that is how she feeds the family.
The Jims went from shock to joy in a matter of minutes as soon as we introduced ourselves and told them what we brought for them. They were so appreciative of this nature and wondered what they did to deserve it. They thanked the donors and prayed that the good Lord will reward them excessively for this wonderful kindness. We left them with smiles on their faces happy that their day has been so uplifted.
