Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The following story is about the Friday family. Their bag of rice was donated thanks to The Watkins Family, this is the 482nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met the beautiful family in Eket, a village in Akwa Ibom state Nigeria. The family stays in a one-room apartment. The house is built with mud and can collapse at any time. The family is blessed with six kids. When we drove into their compound, they gave us a receptive welcome. The family is blessed with 6 kids. They offered us water. When we told them what we had for them, they thought it was a joke because the majority of people are looking for food during the Christmas season. When they saw that it was real, they were shocked.
The family constructed a kitchen at the back of their house, they can’t afford cooking gas, so they use firewood for cooking. When we visited, the husband was not around, but the husband is a carpenter, while the wife sells crayfish. They engaged in this to support the family.
They were overjoyed to receive the bag of rice; they danced around, proclaiming that they had received Christmas rice, and were relieved to have something to eat on Christmas Day. They have something to cook on Christmas Day. They prayed for the donor and prayed that God would answer them at the time of their needs.
