Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The following story is about the Akwama family. Their bag of rice was donated thanks to TERRY SIMMONS, and this is the 499th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met the Akwama family in Eket Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The family stays in Effoi village in Eket Local Government Area. When we got to the family only the wife was at home and she gave us a warm welcome and when we told her what we have for her family she was happy. She said they have hardly been eating well and sometimes they go to bed hungry. The Akwama family is blessed with 3 kids and they live in a one-bedroom apartment that is built with mud, and she said anytime rain falls inside of the house is nothing to write home about.
The family makes use of firewood to cook because that is the cheapest fuel they can afford. The husband is a painter and the wife Mrs. Peace is a fruit seller, they engage in this to fend for the family.
They were excited, happy and thankful. They never believed someone would donate a full bag of rice to them considering the economy of the country. She said God will bless the donor and God will protect them and put a smile on their face as they have done to them. They smiled and waved at us as we left.
