Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The following story is about the Benson family. Their bag of rice was donated thanks to Jennifer Seamons, and this is the 503rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met the Benson family in Eket Local Government Area, they live in Effoi village which is in Eket. The family gave us a warm welcome. When we told them what we have for them they were excited and didn’t believe their eyes. They asked questions like ” how can someone we don’t know give us a full bag of rice”?. The family has 5 kids and they live in a one bedroom apartment, part of the house is built with mud.
The family cooks at the back of their house and they make use of firewood to cook which is a tedious method of cooking as compared to gas which is easy and not stressful, they can’t afford cooking gas so they are left with no choice but to use firewood. Mr. Benson has a motorcycle which he uses for commercial purposes to make money for the family. The wife is unemployed and will wish to start a provision shop if she is funded.
The family thanked the donor for putting a smile on their face and feeding them. They prayed that anything they lay their hands on will prosper and they will get double fold of what they gave them. They were happy and waved at us as we left.
