Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The following story is about the Amos family. This is the 520th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
The Amos family resides in Ekpene Obo a village in Southern Nigeria. When we got to the compound no one was outside so we had to knock and they came outside and gave us a receptive welcome. When we told them what brought us the family was happy and they asked if it was given by a government official, we told them it was donated to them by a donor. They never believed their eyes and were happy that they have gotten something to eat because they have been staying hungry for a couple of days. The family lives in a mud house and they are blessed with 2 kids.
The Amos family cooks at the back of their house and they make use of firewood for cooking which is the cheapest they can afford. They are unable to get cooking gas which is expensive, they have no choice but to stick to cooking with firewood. Mr. Amos told us he is a farmer and he does this to fend for the family, the wife Mrs. Mfon is unemployed and she said she has an interest in hairdressing so that she can provide for the family too, but due to lack of money, she is unable to learn that.
The family was happy and pray God blesses the handwork of the donor and also provides for them in times of their need. The family continued praying for the donor until we left. The mood of the family changed as we left. They were happy and joyous.
