Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Brown family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Cat Neiheisel – In honor of all our employees at Neiheisel Steel Corporation. This is the 62nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
The Brown family is a special family we met through an acquaintance. The Browns live in a rented one bedroom apartment and share other utilities with other tenants. They have 6 kids. The Browns have been financially challenged and only got to move to this house through the contributions of some of their church members.
Mr Brown is a long distance driver and lost his job when the transportation company he worked for packed up. It has been hard for him to take care of his family ever since. His wife is a seamstress and works hard to support the family as much as she can. The house they stay in does not have a kitchen so the Browns cook with wood outside of their house.
The Browns were a lovely family to meet and talk to, when we told them why we came they were so grateful and it showed on their faces. We were happy to participate in helping a family such a this family and know that their prayers for God to bless those who donated will surely be fulfilled.
