Bag of Rice Project #74 -A visit to the Edoho family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Edoho family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Rakale Smith this is the 74th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

The Edoho family was recommended to us by his church leader. We asked his Bishop for a recommendation and he recommended this family. The Edoho family live in the chapel premises. They were homeless for a while until church members found them and brought them to the Bishop who gave them a place to stay at the chapel at no cost. Mr Edoho has 5 kids but only 2 of kids stay with him due to the space in the house. The rest of his kids stay with their mother who lives in another city.

The Edohos have a separate small room that they use in cooking. They use a kerosene stove for cooking. The Edohos are a nice family, always turning up for cleaning and other service projects. Mr Edoho is currently unemployed even though he says that he has been looking for employment everywhere. His unemployment has really affected his family as they have not had enough food to eat and was easily recommended to us by their Bishop.

The Edohos were very happy to receive us. We went to visit them on a Sunday and they just came back from church. When we told them why we came and brought the Rice for them, they were very happy and thanked us. They also thanked those who donated the Rice to them once we explained how the Rice was donated. I am very grateful for the opportunity I have to be involved in this project, people have been so blessed through this donations and including this family. We felt lighter in our hearts leaving this family knowing that their burden as regards to food has been lifted.
