My daughter has a birthday coming up and all she wants is decor for her bedroom. Throw pillows is at the top of her list. Have you priced throw pillows lately? They are crazy expensive! I found these placemats on a shopping trip and thought they were perfect for what she was wanting.
It is so hard to tell, but they are a rich gold, glitter and so pretty!
All you will need is placemats, a sewing machine and pillow inserts or stuffing for the inside of your pillow. Pillow forms can also be so expensive. A little trick I use is buying an inexpensive pillow from Walmart and cutting it up. The pillow I used for this was about $3 and stuffed 2 12 inch throw pillows.
Turn your pillows pretty sides together and sew around the edge, leaving one side open. Once you have sewn the sides, you can turn it right side out.
Now you can stuff it as full as you would like. I like mine really fluffy, especially since they have a tendency to flatten out over time.
Once you have stuffed it, you can sew that last side shut. You can do this by hand so that the seams don’t show. I had a pretty thick placemat so this step was sort of hard, but if you are using a regular texture placemat it should be a little easier. There you have some great throw pillows that cost so much less than one throw pillow that is already made.
