This is a sponsored post with Shimmer and Shine, all opinions are my own.
I was excited to be asked to host a Shimmer and Shine party. They sent us a package filled with everything we would need to host the perfect party. We added a few extra things from Target, like table clothes, decorations and treats. We had 12 little ones attend our party. Some of them had watched the cartoon before, and others this was their first time seeing the toys, books and video. But they all loved it and quickly fell in love with the characters.
Have you seen the new Nickelodeon kids show called Shimmer and Shine? It is a cartoon geared towards preschool age children. Shimmer and Shine are twin sisters who also happen to be genies. They are simply adorable, I love their genie outfits, bright beautiful eyes, colorful hair, spunky but lovable personalities as well as their furry sidekicks Tala and Nahal. Tala is a pet monkey and Nahal is a pet tiger.
Leah is friends with Shimmer and Shine, and always seems to need their help. She can have up to 3 wishes granted a day. Sometimes those wishes are not exactly what she wanted and can complicate matters. But that is when teamwork, problem solving and communication come into play. It is fun to watch these 3 work together and show a positive influence on their viewers.
Did you know that Target Stores now have the Shimmer and Shine product line in their toy department. You can find them at Target, both online and in stores!
We started our party by playing with the Shimmer and Shine Dolls. They have lots of different doll choices, but the Wish and Spin Dolls seemed to be the favorite. When you press the dolls magic jewel necklace she starts to move her arms, the jewels light up, music starts playing and she asks what you wish for. The Wish and Spin doll will then spin! The girls all loved this, and wanted to push her magic necklace over and over.
The girls were all smiles while reading the shimmer and shine books. We then created our very own wish books with glitter pens, colored pencils and markers. It was so much fun to watch each of these little ones ages 2-8 creating their very own wish book while snuggling and playing with their new genies.
I am not sure about you, but when I was little I dreamed about having a genie. I use to lay in bed at night thinking of all the things I would wish for, or all the people I could help. I also dreamed of never having to take care of the baby calves on the farm again. If I could just come across a magic genie all my problems as a child would be solved. My three youngest children, all enjoyed watching Shimmer and Shine (even my son). It was fun to listen to them talk about finding their own genie and what they would wish for.
We then let the kids color Shimmer and Shine coloring pages. You can join in on the fun too!
