Orange Creamsicle Roll Recipe
This recipe is such a bright way to start the morning, sweet yet fresh and finger licking good! We love cinnamon rolls at our house but these are a fun way to change up a family favorite. I make them for brunch or the night before and heat them up for just a few seconds in the microwave.
Recipe makes 2 full 9×13 pans (about 24 rolls)
To make the bread dough you will need:
- 2 cups warm water
- 2 TBS yeast
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 cups flour (add at end)
In a large bowl all water, yeast, sugar, eggs, butter and salt. Mix well then add (one cup at a time) 6 cups flour. Will be sticky, cover with a cloth set aside till doubled in size. ( if you are in a hurry let rise 20 mins other wise let it rise 40 mins). Punch down dough, roll out onto a floured surface.
- 3/4 of a brick of cream cheese softened (save other 1/4 for frosting)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup orange marmalade
- 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
In an even layer spread orange filling mixture over the dough. Start on one end and roll into roll. Cut into 1-2 inch sections. Place in a greased 9×13 baking pan (recipe makes 2 pans). Set in a warm sunny spot and allow to rise again (15-20 minutes). Bake 400 degrees 10-15 minutes till tops are golden brown.
Once they have cooled, frost with cream cheese frosting.
- 1/4 brick of cream cheese
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Mix with a mixer till well blended, spread over rolls.
