Quick, Inexpensive Trophy Idea, Great For Pinewood Derby!

If your son’s scout pack or troop is anything like mine, there isn’t a lot of extra money for decorations, and gifts. The awards and things that the boys need take up the majority of the money pretty quickly!  Which is the way it should be, really.  But its fun to be able to give them a fun trophy for their annual pinewood derby!

You will need

Disposable plastic wine glasses

gold spray paint

Sharpie or vinyl for the wording (optional)

I didn’t take pictures of the process because my husband surprised me while I was gone one afternoon and sprayed them.  Thanks again, honey!

All you do is open the packages and make sure that the bases are all attached.  We did have a couple that needed to be hot glued because they had come apart.  Then you spray paint them with gold spray paint.  That is it!  If you are going to add words, wait until they are dry and then do so with vinyl or write it on with sharpies if you would rather.  I used scrap vinyl from previous projects, so I didn’t have to buy any.

It may not last forever, but our boys thought they were amazing and couldn’t wait until they end of the race to get theirs! They really loved them.
