Save Lives Save Money 2012 ~ Thank You

The strength and courage of one little boy… inspired an event that has now helped save the lives of so many others!

This Friday was our Save Lives Save Money charity event after months of planning the day finally came.  We had a great turn out and had a wonderful day.  I am so very grateful for each and everyone of you who helped make this event happen.  I could have never done it alone.  To our sponsors, vendors, volunteers and attendees  from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

When asked why I was holding our 2 annual charity event …  I just knew in my heart it was the right thing to do.    Believe me my life is crazy busy and I don’t have time for anything “extra”… but saving someone else’s life is always worth finding time for.  When I look back on all my son has been thru, his journey has never been easy. From the second he was born he was a fighter, he found the strength to live, made it thru surgery after surgery and never gave up!  When I look at him he gives me the courage to keep going and follow my heart!

We were able to meet our blood donation goal and filled all 85 slots for people donating blood and came away with 57 units of blood.  This blood is critically important, as Idaho is in a catastrophic low supply right now.

This blood IS saving lives, and we were able to be a part of that!  As each one of our volunteers walked out of the blood donation room I could not help but feel love for  each of them and their willingness to selflessly give to a total stranger!

We also got 27 people to complete their BeTheMatch.org kits, and swab their check to see if they match someone needing a bone marrow transplant.  A normal event will only get 2-3 new kits completed … the fact that we got 27 was a a testimony to the amazing people willing to give to save another in our community!

Thanks to Jessica at Other Mothers in Nampa for donation thousands of items for our quarter sale.  That alone raised just under $500 for our charity to help children  in medical crisis!

We were able to gather 5 huge bins filled with food for the Idaho Food bank.  Plus we have a shipment of corn coming from the wonderful folks at Green Giant.  So with that donation we will meet our goal of 6 bins of food that will be donated to feed people in our community.  Children should never have to go to bed hungry and this food will help fill their tummies!

It was a day filled with fun for the whole family!  Thanks again to Bouncin Bins  for donating the use of their bounce houses, they made a lot of kids smile!  My kids loved the firemen coming and letting them spray their fire hose!

Thanks to Advocates for the Disabled for being our main sponsor of this event.  They had a great interactive booth for the kids, and gave away some great prizes.  Costco donated over 700 bottles of water, which was greatly appreciated on a hot 98 degree day in the sun!   Also thanks to Belia with La Raza 1450 & Kool Oldies 99.5 FM for providing music, co-hosting the event with me.

We had 60 vendors at the event, we are grateful to each one of them they gave over $3000 in prizes for the raffle! Thanks to all our volunteers my friends, family, readers, and total strangers… thank you!  We had over 900 people attend the event, thanks to everyone who took the time to come.  Thanks to Fabulessly Frugal helping at the event and  for also donating a kindle fire.  Thanks to Tiffany with My Crowed Kitchen for donating at 6qt Kitchen Aid Mixer and running the quarter sale as well!

Also a huge thanks to Stevens Henager College for allowing us to hold this event at their school for 2 years in a row.  Without their support this event would be just a great idea!  So blessed to have a school like this in our community willing to give back.  Ken with Stevens Henager was my right hand man the last 3 months planning this event, he put hours of time in.  If any of you are thinking of attending college or getting your GED make sure you go talk to Ken and find out all the amazing programs this school has to offer.

Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart for everyone’s support!  I can not wait to share the stories with you all of those who we will be able to help with the funds raised.  Now we get to start planning our 2013 Save Lives Save Money event, we plan to make it bigger and better and hope you will be able to share our special day with us in 2013!
