My mom taught me to make as much as I can- she is very handy with a sewing machine (though, sadly I am not). She made my prom and homecoming dresses when I was in High School. Not only were they one-of-a-kind dresses so I knew I wouldn’t end up wearing the same dress as 4 other girls, they were very inexpensive! Some of my friends paid $400 to even $600 for a dress they wore to one dance! I only paid for fabric. Plus, the time I spent with my mom looking at patterns, shopping for fabric, and all the cutting, measuring, and dress fittings, was all quality time I had chatting and building a relationship with my mom. So many good memories
