My grandmother was a wonderful, resourceful woman. Recently our plasma TV started have issues. I researched on-line and found the fix to be a very easy one for a do-it-yourself handyman . . . . which my husband is not. I suggested my brother, who is an electrical engineer, might be able to fix it. My husband? He wanted to call it good and get a new one. Now, I’m trying to be a thrifty mom too so I suggested that we try a fix first and then if it didn’t work, go from there. All the while, I could hear my grandmother’s voice in my head saying, “Patch it up! Wear it out! Make it do or do without.” Wonderful words of wisdom that I am trying to live by.

This is a good topic. I could probably come up with a bit of advice everyday.

My Mom taught me to cook/bake from scratch and how to substitute if you did not have an ingrediant. I.E. 3 Tablespoons cocoa powder + 1 Tablespoon oil for 1 square of chocolate.
