Thrifty Easter Eggs

Plastic easter eggs

Holidays can be stressful if you are on a tight budget.  One of my readers passed along her thrifty idea for filling Easter eggs.

Since everyone stocked up on fruit snacks, I came up with a great way to use them. It’s a little tricky but with some determination you can the squeeze the little baggies into Easter eggs. Or if it’s for your own kids you can take them out of the packaging. It’s a great way to save on Easter candy and use up your supply.

One thing my family does to save money is to save the plastic eggs from year to year.  We also save baskets.  I often shop the clearance sales right after Easter, for things like stickers, notepads or toys.  I then pack them away in the Easter box with the eggs and basket for the next year. That way they are easy to find.  We enjoy giving our kids Easter treats but their baskets are rather low key compared to what you might find in the store.  We always enjoy a family Easter egg hunt with a dinner with extended family.

What do you do to keep Easter Thrifty and special all at the same time?
