Wordless Wednesday

Well we really took a gamble when I agreed to have a total stranger from France come live with us for the summer.  But I have to say Paulin has been such a blessing and a joy to have in our home.  I was not sure how he would interact with the kids, or know how to deal with my oldest sons developmental delays.  But he helps me  in the kitchen, plays with the kids, and finds joy and laughter in little Matthews crazy stories and ideas.

Last week he mowed the lawn for us, and let little Matthew help him the whole time (snow boots and all).  The kids are going to go thru withdrawls when he leaves.  We will be left with a smaller grocery budget, but our hearts will be sad as we have come to love him as a part of the family.

One of my favorite things to do is listen to my little ones play.  I love to hear their cute little voices, and the conversations they have.  If you ever wonder what they are thinking …all you have to do is listen.  The other day I was working at my computer and the girls were playing barbies at the counter.

My 3 year old was holding strawberry shortcake, and my 6 year old was holding Rapunzel barbie.  Rapunzel announced she was going to the store and would be back soon.  Strawberry shortcake then said….don’t forget your coupon binder.  I busted out laughing, oh dear coupons have made it into their make believe play. Hmmmm I wonder who their Mommy is :)

Guess who knocked on my door bright and early this morning?  Yip, two armed police men… needless to say I was in total shock.  They asked if anyone had called 911.  I told them no, but with 4 little ones in the house anything was possible.   They said it came from a SOS call from a phone not in service.  They had tracked it to our house with GPS.  After a few minute we figured out that it was our exchange student  from France  phone.  He has it turned to no service but right on the top is a big SOS button.

Well last week when we were visiting Matts parents, Papa Barrand taught little Maveric to turn the alarm off on his phone by pushing the button right on top of the screen.  We would all clap, and he would smile ear to ear thinking he had done something grand.  Well when he saw the big SOS button on Paulins phone he pushed it too….. but instead of an alarm turning off and us all clapping,  he called the police.

I am so grateful that we have police to come help us in time of need… but was beyond embarrassed when they showed up because my 1 year old was pushing buttons like Papa taught him…..  All in the day of being a Mom :)

My little guys first mug shot… and hopefully his last :)

No joke, these are his favorite toys… and he runs around the house with them all day.  Meanwhile I feel like a crazy person cause I can never find the broom and dustpan when I need it :)

Look what I found in front of my desk….

I guess this is his way of laying down the law that he needs a little snuggle time with Mommy :)

He thinks he is so funny… and I think he is about the cutest little man alive :)

And yes he got his snuggle time with mom.

The weather has been a little crazy around here.  It is June normally we should be turning on the AC and playing in the water.  Instead we have had tons or rain, and rather chilly weather.   It started to downpour  last night and the kids and I where having fun listening to the rain on the roof.  I decided to let the kids push bed time back a bit, and go sit on the front step and watch the rain come down, and listen to the wind blowing thru the trees.

We opened the front door and instead of  the fresh rain scent, we got a breeze full of “wet dairy cow”…..My three year old said,”Yucky… Mommy why does the rain smell like a dirty diaper”.   It made me laugh, and remember my days growing up on the farm.

It might have been a little stinky, but it did leave use with a beautiful rainbow!

Did you ever know making Jello could be so much fun?

When my kids are happy, getting along, and exploring the world together it makes me remember that being a Mom is the best thing on earth!

I was not ready for my baby to start walking, then he started to run…… now he is building towers and pushing stools around the house so he can get into things.

Cute little bugger is into everything…….
